Character Design
My intial character concept art was the final result of several rounds of sketches as I finalized how I wanted the main characters Ruby and Nat to look. Once I had their designs solidified, I played around with each character's color palette until I created a more cohesive design which can be seen below. For the ghost character Emily, I wanted to experiment with the ways I could line and color her in order to create a ghostly and faded look.
Styleframe
I'm really interested in creating a strong sense of environment in my work, so for my styleframe I focused on choosing the types of brushes and layering to create depth for my final backgrounds.
Animation Test
I wanted to experiment how I would go about doing Emily's transition from a more humanoid, ghostly figure to an actual human figure, and I decided quicker, jerkier movements would create an air of otherwordliness.
